Secluded Tres Hermanos Beach Campground near Rincon, Puerto Rico

There are two types of sunset scorched beaches. The first overlooks canopies of yellow beach umbrellas, a fresh margarita in hand, and browning bodies daintily clothed in designer swimwear. The second overlooks nothing at all. It is seclusion in the extreme, sand stretching out on all sides and not another face to be seen. It’s the kind of place where actresses unhook their bathing suits for a full body tan.

Tres Hermanos Beach just south of Rincon, Puerto Rico, unquestionably fits the second description. A $4 admission to the campground parking lot is the gateway to this private nirvana.
If you’re feeling really adventurous, another $15 allows you to pitch a tent, literally right on the sand. It could

do with some more frequent landscaping, but a $20 price to live out your own “Lost/Survivor” fantasy is still a bitchin’ good deal. There are coconut trees dotting the landscape, ripe for selection, opening, rum, and a straw.

Mark this for your first stop when you come to Puerto Rico. One day here watching the waves roll in will reset your attitude. You’ll be on Island Time and ready to appreciate the fast flowing drinks and browning bodies of Condado Beach in San Juan.

Tres Hermanos is located off Hwy 115 just west of the town of Añasco and 5 miles south of Rincón.
