Oscar de la Renta

Chic, romantic, and ultra feminine: it must be an Oscar de la Renta creation. Elegantly refined and utterly chic, these gowns are all about style and high fashion.

de la Renta left his native Dominican Republic at age 18 to study painting in Madrid. While living in Spain, he became interested in the world of design, leading him to an apprenticeship with Spain’s most renowned couturier, Cristobal Balenciaga. In 1965, he began his signature ready-to-wear label and his collections have continued to grow. Every fashionable lady benefits from a de la Renta in her wardrobe. Having designed gowns periodically, de la Renta decided to start his own bridal collection and he has been wooing chic brides ever since.

He uses only the finest quality materials such as ivory silk faille and decadent laces. Dramatic, cascading

ruffled hemlines are a signature, while crystal embroidered belts, white tulle skirts with polka dots, and ribbon lattice work are also heavily featured. We especially love his use of luxurious ruffles, embroidery, ostrich feathered accents, and ornate beading. His embellishments manage to be both opulent and regal, yet always refined.

It is no surprise that his talents receive continual international recognition, almost too numerous to count: the CFDA Womenswear Designer of the Year Award in 2000; the CFDA Lifetime Achievement Award in 1990; the Coty American Fashion Critic’s Award (twice!); and membership in the Coty Hall of Fame since 1973. The pièce de résistance - he’s been awarded the French Legion d’Honneur as Commandeur.

A de la Renta design is for the bride who appreciates high quality tailoring with impeccable structure. de la Renta’s collections favor elegant silhouettes with a touch of modesty, blending high fashion and traditional slant. This is a designer dedicated to the idea that the gown is an integral part of making the wedding day extra special.

Seamlessly (no pun intended) juxtaposing a fashion forward sensibility with classic tastes, a de la Renta gown is a timeless piece worth savoring.
