Modified A-line Gown

The modified a-line is similar to the a-line but with less flair as the fabric hits the knee. This styles exudes a classic sense of refinement and can be either dressy or informal. Since the skirt is not too dramatic, it is perfect for daytime events at country estates or equally in place at a luxury hotel ballroom. This style works well for most figures, but is especially flattering for the petite. The slight flair on the bottom is simple, yet elegant.

It is conducive to a wide array of fabrics. Since the lines of this gown are so simple, choosing the right fabric is

very important. Alencon lace is especially lovely. Silk Faille and basket weave designs also help to highlight the linear feel. As fans of texture, we adore this style when there are simple layers of fabric making up the skirt. MoniqueLhuillier has some beautiful hand crafted designs in which she layers silk, lace, and tulle. Embellishments on the bodice play up the long, lean style of the skirt. Floral appliques are stunning in this capacity, crystals and feathers, even better.

A variety of necklines are attractive. Strapless gowns exude a romantic feel and an antique necklace or a dangling of loose layered chains can add some spark. Choose a sweetheart neckline and place an antique brooch in the center, instant glamour. Wear your hair loose and flowing, or polished and refined, this shape can hold its own. Accessorize and have fun.

This is truly a chic choice and excellent for those with sophisticated, romantic, yet simple sensibilities.

Take a look at a Monique Lhuillier modified a-line. Alencon lace and Silk Faille are worth a look, too.
