Mojitos - Cocktails of the Caribbean
If Coronas can be called a lime delivery system, then mojitos most certainly are a mint extravaganza. The crisp, clean flavors coupled with the bold taste of mint are perfect for warm Puerto Rican afternoons.
Traditionally made from white rum, sugar (or sugar cane juice if really authentic), mint, lime, and a splash of carbonated water, this cocktail is as refreshing as it is effervescent. Lots of Old San Juan isn’t old. In fact, it’s relatively new. Stores like Burberry and Guess line the small shopping district. You can buy John Hardy collection there at deep discounts (at least one advantage of the down turned economy), but finding a local place without tourists is hard. Fortunately finding the local spirit isn’t.
